GP has unplanned event
Some residents were awoken Tuesday morning to a sound similar to a jet engine or a roaring noise.
Julie VanDeWater, manager of communications and public affairs at Georgia Pacific, said that the company had an unplanned event that tripped a turbine generator that cause a relief valve to open.
She said the event happened around 2 a.m.
“We are back to normal,” she said. “There was no threat to the public.”
