Pair charged with escape

Two community corrections inmates were arrested for escape in the first degree this week.
Cody Dewane Lawrence, 29, of Brewton and Edward Wayne Spicer, 45, Brewton were arrested.
Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said the pair had their community corrections status revoked and had no bond at this time.
Spicer had a $20,000 bond for escape first and Lawrence had a $25,000 bond for escape first.
A person commits first degree escape if he or she employs physical force, a threat of physical force, a deadly weapon or a dangerous instrument in escaping or attempting to escape from custody or having been convicted of a felony, he or she escapes or attempts to escape from custody imposed pursuant to that conviction.
Escape in the first degree is a Class B felony.
A class B felony could result in a prison sentence of two years to 20 years, and fines up to $30,000.
