Peavy works with new families

Courtney Peavy has spent the last three-and-a-half years working at D.W. McMillan’s nursery taking care of newborns and passing on vital education to new parents.

Peavy, a W.S. Neal High School graduate, said she attended Jefferson Davis Community College, now Coastal Community College, after she decided to make a career change.

“I wanted to do something meaningful,” she said. “I have an English degree, but wanted to do more to help others.”

Peavy said the enjoys teaching new parents about breastfeeding.

“Teaching the families is my favorite,” she said.

Peavy said that they care for about three babies per day at DWM.

“There is plenty of time for education,” she said. “We care for 300 babies a year.”
