Byrne Celebrates Passage of Childhood Cancer STAR Act
Congressman Bradley Byrne (R-AL) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed S. 292, the Childhood Cancer Survivorship, Treatment, Access, and Research Act of 2018.
Congressman Byrne said: “Last month, I met Jessica Marion, the mother ofWilliam the Warrior. William passed away at the age of three after a battle with childhood cancer, and his mother was in Washington advocating for passage of the Childhood Cancer STAR Act. William and his entire family were on my mind today as the bill passed the House on an unanimous voice vote.
“It is my hope that we can get to a point where no child or family has to go through what William experienced, and today was a step in the right direction. As long as I am in Congress, I will fight against childhood cancer every chance I get.”
- 292 passed the Senate on March 22, so it now heads to President Donald Trump for his signature.
