Summer training good or bad?
Is it always good to workout during the summer, and how far should you take your training?
A numerous amount of student-athletes work out during the summer so they will be ready when the during season come back around. Some athletes rest during the off-season, but sometimes its ok to lift weights every now and then.
A few things to consider in the off-season are to remember the mental just as the physical. Avoid activities that will cause major injuries. Do other activities that complement your sport, don’t get exhausted and maintain more than half of the effort.
Head basketball coach for the Coastal Alabama Warhawks said, “I want to see the guys improve in the off-season while they are at home. I ask that they shoot 400 shots daily from their position area.”
It doesn’t take long to lose focus on your fitness and performance when you are not on the court or filed. Gainer said, “I want them to stay in shape so that we don’t have to spend a lot of time working on conditioning when they report in August.”
