Back-to-school festival set for Saturday

Looking for a great way to start back the school year then come out to the back to school giveaway? Wayne’s Recreation and Community Outreach will be having their ninth annual back to school festival Saturday, Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. –to 2 p.m.
It will be held at the Baptist Hill Missionary Baptist Church located at 720 Sowell Rd. “Every year with the help of our sponsors we give the students who come out school supplies to prepare them for the upcoming school year,” President Christy Ellis said.
They will be giving away free school supplies and backpacks. Also for the youth their will be water slides, bouncers, train rides, face paintings, door prizes games, food and so much more.
Games listed for the children will be; sack-races, three-legged races, obstacle courses, water balloon throwing, cake walk. Games for the parents will be bingo.
“The parents are welcome to bring tents, lawn chairs and just have fun with us as we prepare our big fun day to get our children here in Brewton a head start to go back to school,” Ellis said.
About 80 to 100 kids participate in the giveaway. “We looking for a great turn out getting our community churches to come and help us make this event fun and successful for our children as they prepare to go back to school,” said Ellis.
