T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal volleyball teams took part in TRM’s volleyball tournament at Brewton Middle School on Thursday to prepare for the upcoming season.
The Lady Tigers showed an outstanding performance throughout the day and looked ready for a strong season. In the tournament TRM varsity won all their matches going 2-0 against Neal, 2-1 against Opp and 2-0 against Andalusia. “We look forward to the summer tournament every year, it is always exciting to see how our girls match up against other teams,” coach Terri Thompson said.
The junior varsity won their matches going 2-1 against Andalusia and 2-1 against Opp. Brewton Middle School also won both their matches defeating Neal 2-0 and Andalusia 2-0. “Coach Haley Lynch and myself were pleased with all of our teams performances, it was a great opportunity to see where improvements need to be made. We will use the beginning of school to make adjustments to ensure our teams are ready to play by the end of August, and we look forward to have our Tiger fans courtside this fall,” Thompson said.
The Lady Eagles are working with a lot of new faces this year with William West as the new head coach. “Our main objective was that we just wanted to play well,” West said.
The Eagles made a few errors on the court but they look to bring their best game come the regular season. WSN varsity fell in their matches losing to TRM 2-0 and Jay 2-1. WSN Middle School also lost to BMS 2-0.
“The day was a huge success and thank you to all the volleyball parents,” Thompson said.
