Frye: Community sports is a blessing

Growing up in and around a community such as this has always been a blessing.
You know everyone and everyone knows you.
Sometimes that is both a good and bad thing but it helps you to grow as a person.
Growing up just a few miles from here in Monroe County, that small-town feel has most definitely helped shaped me into the person I am today.
I grew up here fishing in the community rivers, hunting game in north Monroe County, going to the movies at the Old Strand Theater in Atmore, and here in the city of Brewton spending time with friends.
My personal love for this community extends from having numerous experiences built around this great place that we all call home including the Friday night lights and the smells of being inside a football stadium.
It is with that love of people and community that has guided me to this publication to bring you coverage of all area sports.
Sports is more than just part of a community.
It is what brings people together from all different lifestyles to enjoy rooting on one team.
Sports is a way of life and the backbone of almost every Alabama town and especially this community.
I am proud to be a part of this community and look forward to meeting the people in it and sharing the love of community sports every week.
I look forward to sharing games, interviews, and community involvement of all kinds with you each and every week through my work with this outstanding publication.
