TRM Student Council to host ‘Tackle Germs’ drive

Last year, the T.R. Miller Student Council recognized a critical need and is asking for help from the community in meeting the need.

Each August students return to the classroom hoping to maximize their learning experience.

Unfortunately, often times, they are unable to attend classes due to illnesses that are a direct result of germs being spread that could have potentially been avoided.

Teachers receive no funding to provide items such as Kleenex, Clorox Wipes, Lysol spray, and Germ-X that could help prevent the spread of germs, and if any of these items are available in the classroom, most teachers have provided them by taking money out of their own pockets.

The members of the T.R.M. Student Council would like to ease the financial burden of teachers by hosting a Supply Drive to “help the Tigers tackle germs.” The drive will be held during the month of September. Supplies can be dropped off by students and community members at the T.R.M. office. For those who don’t have time to purchase items for the drive, student council members will be accepting cash donations at each end of the stadium at the football game on September 7th as well. At the end of the drive, supplies will be distributed to teachers, and cash donations will be used throughout the school year to replenish supplies.
