Escambia County Circuit Clerk John Robert Fountain is warning locals of a new scam involving jury duty.

“I have two individuals come in the office this afternoon, and they received scam phone calls for missing jury duty,” Fountain said. “This is not the first time this kind of thing has happened, however; this is the first time I have heard them reference my name or anyone else.”

Fountain said the phone call received is from a person claiming to be a law enforcement officer, giving a badge number, and claim that Fountain has sent out a warrant for their arrest and that Judge David Jordan has issued warrants from the bench.

Additionally, they are requesting the person buy a money order or Green Dot card and send.

“This is absolutely a scam and this is the first time I have heard of them using my name or one of our judge’s names,” Foundation said.
