TRM girls earn top seed

The first quarter was tight, but the Lady Tigers found a way to get the job done the rest of the night over Thomasville.

“As a team, we really stepped up our game defensively,” said Lady Tiger JaNazsia Nettles.

The Tigers went on to win the game 66-35. Nettles led the team with 20 points; Aleria Smith and Vanessa Samuel both had 15 points;  Alijah Fountain had 9 points, and Ravion Ewing had 2 points.

“To improve my game, I listened to Coach Jackson. When he said, ‘don’t reach and move your feet,’ I did just that,” Nettles said.

The Lady Tigers of TRM, who remain ranked No. 3in Class 3A, now have an overall record of (18-2), and a perfect (6-0) region record.

The Lady Tigers clinched the top seed in the Class 3A, Region 2 Area, which means they will host the area tournament next week.

On January 22nd the No. 3 ranked TRM Lady Tigers defeated the Excel Lady Panthers 60-4, improving to a 17-2 season record. Nettles led scoring with 18 points, seventh grader Serenity Mitchell followed with 11 points, and Aleria Smith with 7 points.. Many other Lady Tigershad their chance to show off their own talents as well.
