Commission approves new poll worker compensation

Poll workers will receive an increase this election season in Escambia County. This past Mon., the county commissioners considered the current poll worker compensation.
“We have a request on two poll workers on behalf of the entire group, asking the commission to increase their pay $25,” said County Administrator Tony Sanks. With long hours devoted during the voting days, the commission approved the increase in pay. “It’s a total $125 per day,” said Sanks.
In support of the change, Chairman Karean Reynolds said, “It will attract quality workers that are working on the polls to provide quality service.”
In other business, the commission approved the new appointments to the Escambia County Industrial Development Authority.
The following individuals were appointment by Alabama State Representative Alan Baker to the ECIDA: Jim Johnson, Robert Faircloth, Brook Wilson, J.R. Jones, Vince Johnson.
The ECIDA works to increase economic opportunities for those businesses and individuals looking to locate, relocate or grow in Escambia County, Alabama. The Authority assists existing industries with expansion and retention, promotes and markets Escambia County as an ideal community for families, businesses and industries to locate.
