County BOE conducts meeting

The Escambia County Board of Education met this past week via video conference.
A special called meeting, the board met to discuss an emergency resolution in response to the Coronavirus-19 pandemic and hear legal updates by the board attorney.
Within twelve hours of the meeting, a summary was uploaded, per the requirement set by the First Supplemental State of Emergency declared by Gov. Kay Ivey.
All summaries are public and for the community.
During the meeting , Superintendent John Knott provided the board with information and updates from the ALSDE, Escambia County Schools Academic Continuity Plan, and Operational Plans for schools related to the Coronavirus health crisis.
This included current plans and guidance provided to students, parents, schools and personnel during the mandated school closures.
Knott also provided the board with a FY 2021 LEA Unit Breakdown.
Next, the board approved the resolution of the Escambia County Board of Education Emergency-Suspension of Policy. It was noted that the resolution will be recorded and referenced as Resolution ECBOE2020-3. This resolution is directly related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Board Attorney Broox Garrett provided the board with legal information and updates on the W.S. Neal High School building project.
