Do or Dye LLC reopened its doors on Tues.
After weeks of a temporary closure due to the stay at home orders by Gov. Kay Ivey, the staff was excited to welcome customers back.
“We’ve been in quarantine and have been without work all these months,” said Gwen Minchew, hair stylist.
Coming back to work, the staff implemented many safety precautions. “We have things in place. We will be wearing masks. We are not going to make people wear masks; it is at their own risk. We’re going to do all the things Gov. Ivey wants us to do,” explained Minchew.
With chairs placed 6 ft. apart and areas cleansed after each client, the 5 women on staff were prepared to return to work, as cautiously as possible. “We are going to ask for everyone to wait in their car. Because of social distancing, the waiting area is closed down,” said Minchew.
Looking forward to her first day back, Hair Stylist Leigh Freeman was prepared for the busy schedule ahead. “It is going to be a busy day. People haven’t had their hair done in 6 weeks,” shared Freeman. Most of all, Freeman was ready for a reunion with her clients and co-workers. “Just being together. You work with somebody for 10 hours a day for 4 years; that is your family. It is hard being away from them and your clients. I lost two clients while we were out. You couldn’t go to their funerals. They are more than clients, they are people apart of your life and you miss them,” said Freeman.
Currenlty, all customers are asked to wait in the car until his or her appointment time. “If they have made an appointment, they can come in at their appointment time or call us to make sure we are expecting them or ready for them. It will be 1 client per stylist. The chairs are 6 ft. apart,” said Minchew.
Minchew also asked everyone to be mindful of symptoms and exposure to the virus. “If people know they have been exposed or have symptoms please be respectful and don’t try to slip in. We all have families and people at home we don’t want to carry anything back to,” she said.
Do or Dye LLC opened Tues. morning. Resuming hours, the salon is open from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Mon. – Fri. and Sat. 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The business is located at 39581 U.S. 31 in Brewton.
