New fire hydrant donated to Wallace VFD
Wallace Volunteer Fire Department received a new fire hydrant thanks to the efforts of Commissioner David Stokes.
Located off of HWY 41, the hydrant was a great need of the department. “This hydrant made 14 that we have in our whole territory. One hydrant made a lot of difference,” said WVFD Fire Chief Alex Singleton.
A fire station with no fire hydrant made it difficult for the fire department to efficiently work.
With this new addition, the department can have work days and training sessions devoted to continuing education and training.
“Not only do we fill our trucks up with fire hydrants. Also, you can hook a truck into a fire hydrant and pump water off of it. You actually have to have a truck to pressurize the water,” said Singleton.
“We appreciate Commissioner Stokes for all the work he did to make it happen,” he added.
Wallace Fire Department is located at 18569 AL-41 in Brewton.
