T.R. Miller High School senior Olivia Blackmon has taken an important step in furthering her education by signing a letter of intent to attend University of Montevallo on an athletic scholarship. She will run in both Cross Country and Track and Field at the University.

Blackmon is the dauther of Jayson and Melanie Blackmon and is planning to major in Biology at Montevallo. Her goal is to become a teacher and a running coach.

In 2017, Olivia was a 3A Cross Country Individual State Champion, and was also a part of the 2017 Team XC State Championship. In 2018, she was the 3200 State Champion for Track and Field and was on the 2016 Team Track State Championship. Other accomplishments in the sport include All-State Cross Country team in eighth through eleventh grades and 2020 All-Star Running Team.

Off the track, Blackmon was named 2019 Junior Class Homecoming attendant, 2021 Distinguished Young Woman of Escambia County. She has been named an AP Scholar and is in the top ten in her class. She is a member of the National Honor Society.

Blackmon says she has put running at the top of her list of accomplishments and is hopeful that she will be able to install all of the lessons she has learned from running into the students she hopes to lead throughout their school years.

Blackmon will graduate from T.R. Miller in spring 2021.
