With many planned events for 2020 being cancelled, the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce is beginning to make plans for 2021 events.
Judy Crane, executive director of the Chamber, said plans are already being made for some of the events that were canceled last year.
“We are in the planning now for our Kick It At The Creek on April 18,” Crane said. “We will have food and entertainment as we did before and are looking ahead to this event.”
Crane said the April event will be among the first event planned for the year with other activities already in the works.
“We are making plans to go forward with our events this year,” Crane said. “We are already promoting the Blueberry Festival for June.”
Crane said one event typically held each year was cancelled this year, but plans are to do a revised version of the annual Chamber Banquet in May.
“That’s the only thing we did not do,” Crane said. “We do plan to have a little different kind of event for our annual gathering sometime the first of May.”
Crane said that as events are being planned, consideration for health safety is also being made.
“For Kick It At The Creek, we will be taking pre-orders for our food a couple of weeks before the event,” Crane said. “That way, people can pre-order and pay and just bring a receipt to pick up their meals. That means they won’t have to stand in a long line with others waiting to get their food. We will have pre-orders on our t-shirts for that event as well.”
Crane said Brandon Elder is set to entertain during the Kick It At The Creek event from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 18. Food offered for that event will be crawfish, shrimp (both served with potatoes, corn and sausage) which can be pre-ordered individually or as a combo. Pre-order times will be announced by the Chamber closer to the event date.
Annual events typically presented by the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce include the Kick It At The Creek in April; the Alabama Blueberry Festival in June; Porch Fest; PCA Rodeo; and other smaller events throughout the year.
