At it’s regularly scheduled board meeting, the Board of Directors for The Bank of Brewton elected to add Melissa McMillan to those in leadership at the bank.

McMillan, owner of Hope Realty, said she is excited about the opportunity.

“I am grateful for this opportunity to serve,” McMillan said following her appointment. “The Bank of Brewton has had such an impact on our community, businesses, and citizens for over 130 years. I appreciate the confidence they have  placed in me and I hope I can be an asset to the bank.”

Bank of Brewton President Jerry Kelly Jr., said the addition of McMillan to the board seems like a ‘perfect fit.’

“We are excited to have Melissa join our board,” Kelly said. “She is blowing and going in Brewton. She is young and interested in Brewton and we thought this will be a good addition to our board.”

Kelly said McMillan’s real estate experience would be beneficial to the bank based on her knowledge of the industry.

“She is selling real estate in the area and her experience will be good for us,” Kelly said. “We think this will be a good fit for the Bank of Brewton.”

McMillan is only the second female in Bank of Brewton history to hold a position on the board, Kelly said.

McMillan joins Jerry Kelly Sr., Jerry Kelly Jr., Charlie McDaniel, and Yank Lovelace as board members for the 132 year old banking institution.
