Matching up people in need with people who want to help is today’s focus as the recovery phase kicks into high gear in East Brewton.
EB Police Chief Kenny Brazile said the city’s Court System will now be the contact point for those who wish to volunteer and those who need help.
“We want to get an organized effort going to get help to the people who need it right now,” Brazile said. “For those who want to volunteer to help with putting tarps on houses, using a chainsaw to cut down limbs or trees or just help clean up debris, we will be the contact to get you with the people who need help.”
Brazile also said those who are looking for some assistance are also able to make one call and be matched with a volunteer to help.
“If people have damage to their homes or property and need some help, this is how we will get those volunteers matched up to help them,” Brazile said. “We will be working to make every effort to get the citizens of East Brewton the help they need — no matter what it is.”
For volunteers and those seeking assistance, the numbers to call are 251-867-4091 or 251-314-1442.
