An early October flood left it’s mark on the community — including the cancellation and ultimate rescheduling of the annual Chamber of Commerce Rodeo. The event will be held at Brewton Arena at O’Bannon Park on Sowell Street, just of St. Nicholas Avenue.
Executive Director Judy Crane said luck came into play for the group to be able to reschedule the event so quickly.
“We had no choice but to cancel when the arena was flooded last month” Crane said. “We contacted our contract who helps us with coordinating with the rodeo participants and animals for the event and he was able to get with his people and work out a couple of dates for the event. He gave us some options and these dates seemed to be the best choice for us. We are glad to be able to reschedule this event and we want people to come out and have a good time.”
The event will feature activities suitable for all ages including a Mutton Bustin’ event. that will be open to children under 50 lbs. Children will be able to take a bucking ride on a sheep during the event. A mechanical bull area open to all ages.
Concessions will be available and a special children’s activities area will also be operating during the rodeo.
Sponsors for the event include Peach GMC, Best Wester of Brewton, Gulf Coast CW and WKRG.
Crane said that anyone who purchased tickets for the original date may use those tickets for the new dates.
Tickets are available for purchase on-line through the Chamber website. Advance tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under through Thursday, Nov. 4. Visit brewtonchamber.com and visit the store tab on the site to purchase tickets.
