After a dead-lock vote for a new board president and vice president during the Nov. 18 meeting of the group, a re-convened meeting called for the election of the two officers for the group on Nov. 29.

Board President Cindy Jackson called the meeting to order to proceed with the election of new officers for the group.

After some discussion, Mike Edwards made a motion to re-open nominations for the two positions.

Edwards then nominated Coleman Wallace for the president position and Danny Benjamin nominated Mike Edwards for the vice president’s seat. Edwards immediately declined the nomination.

With no other nominees entered for the vote, Wallace was unanimously approved for the position.

For the office of vice-president, Sherry Digmon nominated Cindy Jackson for the position with Mike Edwards nominating Danny Benjamin for the seat.

In a roll call vote, Jackson received three votes while Benjamin received four votes.

In his opening remarks as president of the board, Wallace thanked the members of the board.

“Thank you for the unanimous vote,” Wallace said. “It is my desire to serve with integrity and to support our superintendent.”

Benjamin offered thanks as well.

“I want to thank Ms. Jackson for serving and for her leadership,” Benjamin said. “I support our superintendent and will work to meet our mission in education.”
