Editor’s Note: Several new restaurants have opened or plan openings in our community. This is the first in a series of features on those new establishments.
East Brewton residents and visitors now have a new place to find a bit to eat.
It’s A Family Affair has opened on Forrest Avenue in the old location of Brenda Faye’s Buffet.
Wanda Samuel opened the business in November and has been moving forward since opening day.
“We opened in November right after Thanksgiving,” Wanda said. “It’s going okay or now. Somes days are better than others, but we’re doing good.”
Wanda is joined in the kitchen by Katie Samuel for some assistance.
“We do it all,” Wanda said. “I do a lot of the cooking but having Katie is a big help.”
Currently, the restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch offering a buffet for both meals as well as to-go plates for those on the run.
“We open at 6 a.m. for breakfast,” Wanda said. “We switch over for a lunch buffet at 11 a.m. and serve until 2 p.m. every day.”
The buffet, with a salad bar trip and dessert is $12.65; to-go plates with a drink are $10.50; with a to-go salad at $6.99.
The breakfast buffet is available Friday through Monday with the lunch buffet available on Friday, Sunday and Monday.
“Right now we are just doing call-in orders on Saturdays for lunch,” Wanda said. “We may change that in the future.”
The Saturday call-in menu for lunch includes all the local favorites including hamburgers and cheeseburgers with or without bacon, taco salads, pork chops, and a variety of side items including french fries, onion rings or fried okra to complete the meal.
And if you’re in the mood for chicken wings, Wanda can help you out with a variety of flavors including hot, mild, lemon pepper and ranch. You can order 6 or 12 wings or request larger orders by phone.
For those wishing to place to-go orders, contact the restaurant during regular business hours by calling 363-9598.
