Reid State Technical College was recognized on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 as winners of the Total Student Headcount category of the Chancellor’s Challenge.

“It is our pleasure to congratulate the Reid State Technical College team on winning the Total Student Headcount category of the Chancellor’s Challenge. We recognize and appreciate the hard work that went into the college’s growth from Fall 2020 to Fall 2021, and we believe that this honor is well deserved,” said Dr. Neil Scott, Alabama Community College System Director of Strategic Enrollment Management.

“This is a major accomplishment for Reid State, the students we serve, and the community.  Our employees put in countless of hours supporting our efforts in this competition and are grateful to have been recognized for this achievement,” stated Dr. Coretta Boykin, President of Reid State Technical College.

The Chancellor’s Challenge was a competition with a goal being that each two-year college in the state increase its own growth percentages in the following four categories from Fall semester 2020 to Fall semester 2021: new student headcount, credit hour production, retention, and total student headcount.

Reid State increased their total of unduplicated students enrolled in credit bearing classes by 34.05% from Fall 2020 to Fall 2021. This increase was the highest among the state’s two-year colleges.

As winners of the Total Student Headcount category, Reid State will receive funds to be used for student success initiatives and professional development related to student success. The college will also be recognized at the 2022 Alabama Community College Association Conference held on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at the Sheraton Birmingham Hotel & BJCC Convention Center.
