If you’re looking for a little extra money, you may find a new face in the loan department at The Bank of Brewton.
Charles Kelly has joined the staff as a loan officer after working in the banking industry at other facilities.
“I’m exciting about being a part of the Bank of Brewton family,” Kelly said. “This is an opportunity for me to do something different and a good opportunity to learn.”
Kelly, who previously worked in banking with Wood Forrest Bank and TrustMark, is a graduate of Samson High School and as a degree in business management. He is currently working on a degree in cyber security.
“This is a good fit for me,” Kelly said. “I’m learning the Bank of Brewton ways and settling into my spot.”
Faith Jackson is a co-worker in the Bank of Breton loan department with Kelly and says the addition will be a good one for the bank and the customers they serve.
“I think he will be a great fit here,” Jackson said. “I have worked with Charles before and am glad to have the opportunity again.”
Bank of Brewton opened for business on Monday, January 7, 1889. Business was carried on in a building on West Saint Joseph Street. In 1912 Bank of Brewton moved out of the small building into a construction adjacent to the Lovelace Hotel.
Bank of Brewton began as a result of community need. It is the oldest bank in the state of Alabama, and the first bank established between Mobile and Montgomery. Today, Jerry M. Kelly, Jr. is president, and Bank of Brewton, still homeowned and operated as in 1889, continues to serve the greater Brewton area as a full service bank.
The main branch of The Bank of Brewton is located in historic downtown Brewton with branches located on St. Nicholas Avenue and on North Douglas Avenue.
