Neighborhood Park to hold grand opening

A special celebration and grand opening has been set for a new community park and memorial garden in Brewton.
The Wayne’s Recreation and Community Outreach Neighborhood Park and memorial Garden will be hosting a grand opening on Oct. 29 beginning at 11 a.m.
The park is located at 720 Sellers Street in Brewton.
The event will also be a scholarship benefit to help fund the Chason Shavor Godbolt and ReShena ReNee Young scholarships. Both students were embmers of the W.S. Neal High School Class of 2004.
Community businesses and vendors are welcome to set up booths for goods and information with no vendor fee. The group is asking for a donation to the scholarship fund of $25 or more.
Visitors to the event are invited to bring lawn chairs and tents to enjoy the day filled with music, food and fun for all ages. There will be S’mores by the fire pit as well as Trunk-or-Treat and a movie in the evening for the outh.
The Neighborhood Park and Memorial Garden will be available in the future for special events and celebrations with the main focus on providing a safe, fun place for children and youth activities.
Sponsors are still being sought for the special day with all donations tax deductible. Memorial Plates are also available for order. Each plate wll be in memory of your loved one and will be mounted at the park for memorials.
The public is invited to celebrate the opening of the park and the funding of the special scholarship.
