Holy Weeks services set for community

Area churches and ministers will once again present Holy Week services for the community in the week preceding Easter Sunday. With the holiday falling on April 9 this year, services are set to begin on Monday, April 3.
Each service will begin at noon and will be followed by a light lunch for those who attend.
The first service in the week long observance will be held at St. Maurice Catholic Church on West Jackson Street beginning at noon. Preaching during the service will be First Baptist Church Pastor the Rev. Cavin Cawthon.
On Tuesday, April 4, the Rev. Parker Johnson, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will be bringing the message at First Baptist Church on Belleville Avenue.
The Rev. Carl Dickerson, pastor of First United Methodist Church, will deliver the message for Wednesday’s serve at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, located at 1510 Escambia Avenue.
On Thursday, the First Presbyterian Church on Belleville Avenue will host the services with a message from the Rev. Patrick Madden from St. Maurice Catholic Church.
The final service rounding out the week will be held Friday at the First United Methodist Church on Belleville Avenue. The message will be presented by the Rev. David Chatel of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.
All services are open to the public and are intended to be completed, including lunch, within the noon hour each day.
