A Saturday evening run into the woods resulted in the arrest of a Castleberry man who is now facing multiple charges.
According to East Brewton Police Lt. Russell Clausell, the arrest came after complaints were received of an unwanted individual in the area Weston Street and Ridge Road Saturday afternoon.
“Upon arrival to the area, the man in question was identified as Calvin Thomas,” Clausell said. “Thomas was combative with officers and appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance.”
Clausell said Thomas resisted arrest as officers worked to secure the suspect.
“Thomas then attempted to flee running into the woods crossing into oncoming traffic on Ridge Road,” Clausell said. “Moments later, he was captured and arrested by officers from East Brewton Police Department and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.”
Thomas was detained and handcuffed on the scene along Ridge Road just before 7 p.m. Saturday.
Thomas was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center where he was charged with attempting to elude, possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication according to Clausell.
