News of a situation concerning the W.S. Neal High School Eagles football program and the eligibility of a particular player has been swirling for almost 48 hours with no clear answers in place on the fate of the team’s season of play.

However, regardless of the outcome of that situation, the Friday night Battle of Murder Creek is still on for both W.S. Neal and T.R. Miller.

According to details in a social media news report from Powerhouse Sports, the following information was revealed:

WS Neal was turned in for an ineligible player two weeks ago
WS Neal has until Saturday to make their case to the AHSAA, and IF it doesn’t go their way, they will have to forfeit their wins.
IF Neal has to forfeit their wins, the playoff standings for Class 3A region 1 will look like:
1) Mobile Christian
2)Thomasville
3) Flomaton
4) Hillcrest-Evergreen
The Battle of Murder Creek also was crucial to TR Miller due to tiebreakers in Class 4A region 1. IF Neal has to forfeit wins, it could hurt TR Miller’s playoff seeding.
The player in questioned will probably not be able to compete on Friday
As we receive more information about the playoff placement for W.S. Neal or T.R. Miller we will post that information here.
Gates for the Battle of Murder Creek will open at 5:30 p.m. at W.S. Neal High School Stadium in East Brewton on Friday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
