Gulf Coast RC&D awarded Appleton Volunteer Fire Department $15,000 for their project “Response/Rescue UTV.”

This project assisted Appleton VFD with funds to purchase a much-needed Can-Am Defender 6×6 UTV and an 85-gallon water tank, fire suppression pump, emergency vehicle warning lights, scene and work lighting, and other elements to help prepare the UTV for use in fighting fires. The use of the UTV will help us become better equipped to respond to wildfires and to respond to search and rescue missions.

The Gulf Coast RC&D Council serves Escambia, Mobile, and Baldwin counties and the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. The Council’s grant program provides grant opportunities for local schools, non-profit organizations and units of government that focus on community development, conservation education and natural resources conservation projects. The RC&D program is made possible through strong support of
out local legislators.
