For more than four decades, visitors and members of the Catawba Springs Baptist Church have been blessed by the service of the church secretary.
Judy Purnell-Lambeth, who has served in the position since July 1, 1979, put in her last day on the job on Dec. 31, 2023.
After more than 43 years of work at the local church, Purnell-Lambeth will be honored with a retirment reception at the church on Sunday afternoon.
The reception is set from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Catawba Springs Baptist Church fellowship hall located on Old Hwy. 31.
The long-time secretary has worked with several pastors during her years of service. She first worked with the Rev. Bert Bounds and continued her service with pastors Bert Wiggers, the Rev. Jim Fisher, Dr. Steve Yuhasz and the current pastor, the Rev. Jeff Edwards.
Those who know the new retiree are invited to join in the celebration Sunday afternoon.
