RSTC receives COPS Hiring Program grant

eid State Technical College is pleased to announce its selection as a recipient of the Fiscal Year 2023 COPS Hiring Program grant, with an approved amount of $112,748 from the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office), under the guidance of Attorney General of the United States, Merrick B. Garland.

The grant signifies the College’s dedication to advancing community policing and reinforcing the crucial role of public safety. The funds will be utilized to hire a full-time officer, bolstering campus safety and security measures. The initiative aligns seamlessly with the COPS Office’s mission to build trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

In expressing gratitude for this opportunity, Reid State’s Campus Police Officer, James Wilkins states, “This grant empowers us to enhance the safety of our campus environment, fostering a secure and supportive atmosphere for both students and staff. We appreciate the support from the COPS Office in realizing our commitment to community-oriented policing.”
