With construction of a new restaurant underway, East Brewton residents will soon have options for dining and shopping, according to East Brewton Mayor Terry Clark.
Clark said all of the paperwork is in place with signatures all that remains to bring Scott’s Outdoors to East Brewton.
“We have done our part and are just waiting on the final paperwork to be finished,” Clark said.
Last month, the East Brewton City Council agreed on a purchase price of $60,000 for a parcel at 619 Forrest Avenue — adjacent to City Hall — to Montgomery Family Business, LLC, doing business as Scott’s Outdoors.
The Council also agreed to reduce city sales tax to three percent for the business during their first 10 years of operation.
That new business — coupled with the planned opening of Jack’s restaurant — will bring much needed revenue to the city.
Clark said last week that officials with Jack’s restaurant, currently under construction on Forrest Avenue, should be completed in June. A planned July 1st opening is set.
Although Scott’s Outdoors is in the works, not specific date for planned construction of the business has been set. The business is expected to be in place by late 2024.
With two new businesses finding East Brewton, officials are hopeful that other businesses will find the city attractive.
“We want to bring all that we can to East Brewton,” Clark said. “We are happy to have Jack’s almost ready to open and are excited about Scott’s Outdoors choosing our city for their business.”
