TRM B-team football blanks WSN 28-0

While the government was threatening a shutdown Monday night in Washington, the T.R. Miller Tiger football B-team shut down the W.S. Neal Eagles in Brewton as the Tigers cruised to a 28-0 win.
In the game Monday, T.R. Miller racked up 227 yards of offense in the win while holding W.S. Neal to 58 total yards. T.R. Miller had 158 yards on the ground on 24 carries and 69 yards in the air. W.S. Neal had 55 yards on the ground on 23 carries and three yards in the air.
T.R. Miller got on the board first in the game as Kristian Smith scored the first of his three touchdowns in the game on a 4-yard run to put T.R. Miller up 6-0 after the failed two-point conversion.
Later in the first quarter, Ahmaud Taylor scored his lone touchdown of the game on a 21-yard run to put T.R. Miller up 14-0 after a successful two-point conversion with 2:56 left in the quarter.
In the second quarter, Smith scored on a 7-yard with 7:51 left before the half to put T.R. Miller up 22-0.
After a scoreless third quarter by both teams, Smith added a 3-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to put T.R. Miller up 28-0 and propel them to the win.
Smith finished with 40 yards on seven carries and had three touchdowns while Taylor added 74 yards on 10 carries and had one touchdown.
Chardian Johnson went 1-for-3 passing for 20 yards while Caleb Winton finished 3-for-4 passing with 49 yards.
Smith also led T.R. Miller in receiving Monday night as he had three catches for 23 yards. Brooks Brown had the other catch for 26 yards.
Peyton Salter led W.S. Neal in the rushing category with 34 yards on nine carries.
T.R. Miller had 12 first downs in the win while W.S. Neal finished with four.
With the win, T.R. Miller improved to 4-0 this season while W.S. Neal fell to 0-3.
T.R. Miller will conclude their 2013 season next week when they host Excel for a 6:30 p.m. game at Brewton Municipal Stadium.
W.S. Neal will be home against Hillcrest also at 6:30 p.m. The Eagles and Jaguars will meet each other again on Monday, Oct. 28 in Evergreen. The game will be the final game of the season for the Eagles of East Brewton.
