Lady Tigers ride winning streak, defeats JU Blacksher 7-3

JU Blacksher took the early lead in the first inning, but it was all T.R. Miller after, as the Lady Tigers scored five unanswered runs through the second and fifth innings. JU Blacksher scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning before Miller rebounded with two more runs of its own in the seventh.

Miller had 10 hits as a team. Steely Ruzic was 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored. Mallori Floyd had a double and a triple, along with 2 RBIs. Floyd also scored two runs. Mary Madison Brown was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Taylor Austin had a hit and 2 RBIs.

Colby Hollinger led the Lady Bulldogs with a home run and 3 RBIs at the plate.

Myra Reiss was the winning pitcher for Miller. Reiss tossed a complete game, allowing three runs, on four hits and three walks. She had four strikeouts.

Jessie Blackwell took the loss in a complete game effort for the Lady Bulldogs. Blackwell surrendered seven runs, walked two batters, and struck out six.

Earlier in the week the Lady Tigers defeated Excel 12-3. Steely Ruzic, Mallori Floyd and Myra Reiss combined for nine hits, 8 RBIs and scored nine runs at the top of the batting order. Reiss had two doubles and 5 RBIs. Taylor Austin had 2 RBIs. Addi Smith had an RBI hit. Anna Grace White had a hit.

Austin picked up the win from the circle.

Miller (7-3) will play at Straughn today, March 17, with JV beginning at 4:30 p.m. followed by the varsity.
