A Brewton man has pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a 5-year-old boy, taking a deal while in the middle of his trial on those charges and charges of sodomy.

Keno George Foster Jr. was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was facing up to 99 years in prison on the charges.

District Attorney Steve Billy said the state had already presented its case when Foster decided to plead guilty.

Foster reportedly told Circuit Judge Bradley Byrne that he maintains his innocence but wanted to make sure he would be out of prison in a few years to be able to care for his family.

During the trial, the victim and his mother testified, according to reports.

Foster was arrested in May 2009 on a grand jury indictment. The charges related to incidents that began in 2005.
