T.R. Miller’s Lady Tiger volleyball team improved to 7-2 Thursday at Jay with a 2-1 win while the JV team lost 2-1 to drop their overall record to 2-3.
T.R. Miller lost set one to Jay 25-21 before winning set two 25-16 and set three 15-4.
“We were very fortunate to leave Jay with a win tonight,” Lady Tiger head coach Greg White said. “Jay is a much better team than the Jay team we played this summer at team camp.”
White said his team is struggling a bit right now.
“We are not serving well and we are just not making a lot of plays that we should be making,” White said. “We’ve showed a lot of character and toughness the last couple of games by grinding out some wins but we are not making it look very pretty. We still have a ways to go in the season so we have time to fix the problems we are having. We are playing in a tournament this weekend in Spanish Fort so we will have some opportunities to get better down there.”
In the game Thursday, Leigh Margaret Bostic led in set one with seven service points and five kills. Emily Waters had five service points.
In set two, Leah Brundidge led with seven service points and eight assists while Taylor Guthrie had nine kills.
In set three, Guthrie had seven straight service points to start the game and Natalie Neal had six service points with three aces. Amber Nelson led with six kills as T.R. Miller won the set and the match 2-1.
In the Spanish Fort tournament today, T.R. Miller will play Murphy at 9:30 a.m., Gulf Shores at 10:30 a.m. and Escambia High of Pensacola at 1:30 p.m.
From there, the tournament will then move to a single elimination bracket.
