The W.S. Neal Middle School girls basketball team picked up their first win of the season Thursday night on the road at McCall while the boys also won to improve their record.
The Lady Eagles defeated McCall 15-10 to make their record 1-5 while the boys won 34-18 to even their record up at 3-3.
W.S. Neal will be off this week due to the Thanksgiving holidays and will return to action at home Tuesday against rival Brewton Middle School.

WSNMS girls 15, McCall 10
W.S. Neal’s Middle School girls basketball team used a 6-2 advantage in the third quarter to get a 15-10 win for their first win of the season.
The Lady Eagles led 5-4 after the first quarter and 9-6 at halftime following a 4-2 scoring advantage in the second quarter.
The four-point advantage for the Lady Eagles in the third quarter extended their lead to 15-8 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, McCall shutout W.S. Neal 2-0 but the Lady Eagles were able to hang on for the five-point win, 15-10.
Tykeria Nolan led the Lady Eagles with seven points and was followed by Kelana Floyd with six points and Katelyn Millican with two points.
Eagle head coach Joe Ellington said he was proud of the girls for the win.
“I was happy our girls got the win because they have really kept a good attitude through the season and worked hard,” Ellington said.

WSNMS boys 34, McCall 18
The W.S. Neal Middle School boys evened their record up to 3-3 as they defeated McCall by 16 points, 34-18.
W.S. Neal led 12-8 after the first quarter and 23-11 at halftime as they outscored McCall 11-3 in the second quarter.
W.S. Neal was able to extend their lead to 30-13 at the end of the third quarter as they edged out the Wolves 7-2 in the third. In the fourth, McCall held a 5-4 advantage but the Eagles claimed the win 34-18.
D.J. Hodges and Tray Taylor led W.S. Neal with six points and Malcolm Hawthorne had five points. Andre Womack and Quantae Barksdale both had four points in the win and TyShawn Davis added three points. Sam Frazier, TyAnthony Alexander and Dakota Graves all had two points.
