Brewton Babe Ruth Orioles continue win streak Thursday; Yanks roll over Pirates

The Brewton Babe Ruth Orioles continued their winning streak Thursday in Brewton as they defeated the Cardinals 5-2 to improve to 6-4 and stay in second place. The Cardinals saw their record fall to 4-5 with the loss.
In the second game Thursday in Brewton, the Yankees picked up their fourth win as they downed the Pirates 9-1 to improve to 4-5 and drop the Pirates to 2-8.
After Thursday’s games, the idle Indians remained in first place with an 8-1 record followed by the Orioles with a 6-4 record. The Cardinals are in third place with a 4-5 record and the Yankees in fourth with a 4-6 record. The Pirates are in fifth place with a 2-8 record.
After having Friday and Monday off, the season enters the final week of the season with games set for Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday all in Brewton.
The Indians have three games left on their schedule, as they will take on the Pirates, Cardinals and Orioles.
The Orioles will play the Yankees and Indians in their final two games while the Cardinals have three games left against the Yankees, Indians, and Pirates.
Both the Yankees and Pirates have two games left with Yankees playing the Cardinals and the Orioles and the Pirates playing the Indians and Cardinals.

Orioles 5, Cardinals 2
In game one Thursday in Brewton, the Orioles scored three runs in the first inning and two in the sixth while holding the Cardinals to just one run each in the fourth and sixth innings to get a three-run win, 5-2.
Caden Lodge earned the win on the mound for the Orioles while Darby Black took the loss for the Cardinals.
At the plate for the Orioles, Lodge was 2-for-3 and Dominique Jackson was 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs.
Justin Sessions was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs in the win.
For the Cardinals, Miles Powell was 1-for-2 with a triple and Black had one RBI. Lowell Swain was 1-for-2 and Jake Najor was 1-for-3.

Yankees 9, Pirates 1
The Pirates were held to three hits and one run Thursday in game two as the Yankees scored four runs each in the first and second innings to propel themselves to a 9-1 win.
Cam Easterling earned the win on the mound for the Yankees while the Pirates’ Lane Chavers took the loss.
For the Yankees, Markail Mitchell and Hunter Harp were both 1-for-2 along with Dalton Shell and Tim McDonald, who both had one RBI each.
Rob Jones was 2-for-3 with a three-run homerun in the first inning to finish with three RBIs.
For the Pirates, Dalton Smith and Malcolm Hawthorne were both 1-for-1 while Patrick Glass was 1-for-2.
