In their final game of the season Thursday in Brewton, the Brewton Babe Ruth Yankees shocked the Orioles 9-8 to end their season on a winning note.
The win for the Yankees finished the season with a 5-7 record. The loss for the Orioles dropped them to 6-5 with one game left to play Friday.
In other games Thursday, the Indians improved to 10-1 with a 4-0 win over the Cardinals.
The loss for the Cardinals dropped them to 5-6 while the idle Pirates remained at 2-9 with the final games set for Friday in Brewton.
After Thursday’s games, the Indians were in first place with a 10-1 record followed by the Orioles in second with a 6-5 record.
The Cardinals are in the third place with a 5-6 record while the Yankees were in fourth with a 5-7 record.
The Pirates remained in fifth with a 2-9 record.

Yankees 9, Orioles 8
In a back-and-forth game Thursday, the Yankees held on to end their season with a 9-8 win over the Orioles.
Leading 9-7 heading into the top of the seventh, the Orioles loaded the bases and scored one run to cut the lead to one.
With the bases still loaded and two outs, the Yankees got a strikeout to end the game with a one-run win.
Both teams scored two runs in the first inning only to see the Yankees score two in the second to lead 4-2.
After one run in the top of the third for the Orioles cut the lead to 4-3, the Yankees added two more runs in the third inning to claim a 6-3 lead.
Both teams failed to score in the fourth inning, but in the fifth, the Orioles scored four runs to turn a three-run deficit into a one-run lead at 7-6.
In the bottom of the inning, the Yankees plated three of their own to take a 9-7 lead and hang on for the win in the seventh.
Rob Jones earned the win on the mound for the Yankees while Tim McDonald earned the save. Jones went five innings and allowed four hits, seven runs, two earned, walked four, hit one and struck out five.
McDonald went one inning and allowed one hit, one earned run, walked two and struck out two.
At the plate, Markail Mitchell was 3-for-4 with a triple and Hunter Harp was 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Jones went 1-for-3 with one RBI and McDonald was 1-for-2 with a triple.
Dakota Graves and Andrew Langham were both 1-for-2 with one RBI each.
For the Orioles in the loss, Caden Lodge, Dominique Jackson and Justin Sessions pitched in the loss with Sessions being the pitcher of record.
The trio went five innings and allowed 10 hits, nine runs, six earned, walked six and struck out five.
At the plate, Kieon Smith had one RBI and Lodge was 2-for-4 with a triple, a double, and three RBIs.
Zac Griffin and Jared Salter were both 1-for-3 along with Brooks Brown.

Indians 4, Cardinals 0
In a game two pitching duel, the Indians continued their winning ways with a 4-0 win over the Cardinals.
Tyler Joyner and Darby Black squared off on the mound with Joyner and Indians claiming the win.
Joyner went seven innings and allowed two hits, no runs, walked three and struck out 10 while Black went seven innings and allowed three hits, four runs, struck out 12 and walked six.
The Indians scored two runs in the first inning and one each in the third and fourth to get the win.
At the plate for the Indians, Keaton Parker was 1-for-3 with a double and Joyner and Trin Miller were both 1-for-2 with Miller having a double.
For the Cardinals, Black was 1-for-3 and Todd Mayo was 1-for-2.
