After the middle school and JV games Thursday at T.R. Miller, it was the Lady Tigers who were getting “pinked out” in their annual pink games.
The Brewton Middle School team lost 2-0 to Pleasant Home to see their record fall to 1-3 this season and the JV team lost 2-1 to Pleasant Home to suffer their first loss this season and fall to 6-1.
In varsity action, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers returned the favor as they defeated Pleasant Home 3-0 to improve to 11-2 this season.
The middle school Lady Tigers lost 25-14 and 25-17 while the JV Lady Tigers won the first set 25-12 before losing set two 25-23 and set three 15-9.
In varsity action, the Lady Tigers won 25-15, 25-15, and 25-14 to claim the win.
“I would like to thank the people of the community who came out to the game tonight wearing pink to support the Lady Tigers and to support breast cancer awareness,” Tiger head coach Greg White said. “Tonight was our third annual “pink night” and each year it gets a little bigger and better. We had a very good crowd tonight and the breast cancer awareness donation bucket had a very good collection also. All of the money collected tonight will go to the T.R. Miller Relay for Life team.”
As for the game, White said his team played three very solid games Thursday.
“We have spent a lot of practice time recently stressing our passing,” White said. “We have really tried to stress the importance of making good passes to our setters so our setters can get good sets to our hitters. I think we did a very good job with that tonight. We have also tried to stress the importance of not having service errors. In three games tonight we had a total of three service errors. I appreciate the girls working hard during practice to correct some things that we needed to be corrected.”
The Lady Tigers are scheduled to play in the Clarke County Tournament today in Grove Hill and will play in an area tri-match Monday at No. 1 Bayside Academy along with Washington County.
