In their final game of the 2011 season Monday night at home, the Brewton Middle School basketball teams came away with wins over the McCall Wolves to end on a winning note.
The Lady Tigers of BMS defeated McCall 23-16 to finish their season with a 7-3 record while the Tigers earned a 28-14 win to finish the season with a 6-4 record.

BMS Lady Tigers 28, McCall 16
A 9-0 run for the Lady Tigers of BMS in the third quarter secured a seven-point win over McCall Monday night at home as the Lady Tigers ended their season with a 23-16 win.
The first half was a close for both teams as both teams were tied 2-2 after one quarter of play. In the second quarter, Brewton used a 4-0 run to help take a 6-2 lead with 4:53 left in the half to help them hold an 8-6 lead after two quarters of play.
In the third quarter, the Lady Tigers used a 9-0 run to take a 17-6 lead into the fourth quarter of play. In the fourth, the Lady Tigers held a 23-8 lead with 3:49 left in the game before McCall finished with an 8-0 run of their own to end the game with a 23-16 win in favor of the Lady Tigers.
Tempest Thompson led Brewton with 12 points and Emonea Curry finished with seven. Serena Smith added four points in the win.
Brewton was 0-for-4 from the free throw line in the win while McCall was 0-2.

BMS Tigers 28, McCall 14
The Brewton Middle School boys used tough defense in their final Monday night to key a 28-14 win over McCall.
Brewton held McCall to one total point in the first half to lead 13-1 after the first quarter and 17-1 at the half.
In the third, Brewton outscored McCall 7-6 to extend their lead to 24-7 after three quarters of play. In the final quarter, McCall outscored Brewton 7-4, but Brewton was able to hang on to the win by 14 points.
The Tigers used a 13-0 run over the span of the first and second quarters to turn a 4-1 lead into a 17-1 lead. In the third quarter, Brewton led 19-7 with 3:01 left in the quarter before going on a 9-0 run over the final two quarters to get the win.
The Tigers had seven players score in the win with Chardian Johnson leading with seven points and Markail Mitchell having six. Carlos Thomas had five points and Austin Holmes chipped in four points. Ahmad Taylor, Tamerick Jenkins and Jo Jo Booker all had two points each.
The Tigers shot 3-for-6 from the free throw line while McCall was 4-for-9.
In a rescheduled game with Lyeffion from earlier in the year Friday on the road, the Brewton Middle School basketball teams swept the competition to pick up wins in their next to last games of the season.
The Lady Tigers defeated Lyeffion 38-11 to improve their record to 6-3 and the BMS boys defeated Lyeffion 42-38 in overtime to improve to 5-4.
Brewton is scheduled to take on McCall Monday night at home at 5 p.m. in their final game of the 2011 season.

BMS Lady Tigers 38, Lyeffion 11
The Brewton Middle School Lady Tigers’ 12 points in the first quarter outscored Lyeffion’s total for the entire game Friday as Brewton earned their sixth win this season with a 38-11 win.
The Lady Tigers outscored Lyeffion 12-2 in the first quarter and 8-3 in the second quarter to hold a 20-5 lead at the half. In the second half, the Lady Tigers edged out Lyeffion 7-6 to increase their lead to 27-11 heading into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth, the Lady Tigers held Lyeffion scoreless while posting 11 points of their own to get the win by 27 points.
Brewton had two players in double figures in the win as Tempest Thompson led with 13 points and Emonea Curry was close behind with 12 points.
Mekia Williams chipped in five points and Anilah Brazille added four in the win. Ivory Johnson and Keiona Banks both had two points each.

BMS Tigers 42, Lyeffion 38 OT
In a game that was compared to a Duke-North Carolina game, the Brewton Middle School Tigers edged out Lyeffion in overtime by four points, 42-38.
With the game tied at 35-all after the end of regulation, Brewton outscored Lyeffion 7-3 in the extra period to get the win.
Lyeffion took an early lead on Brewton in the first quarter as they led by one point, 8-7, after one quarter of play.
In the second quarter, Brewton rallied with a one-point run of their own as they edged out Lyeffion 6-5 in the quarter to tie the game at 13-13 at the halftime break.
In the third, both teams scored eight points each as the game went into the fourth quarter tied at 21.
In the fourth, both teams played to 14 points to send the game into overtime tied at 35. Brewton’s four-point advantage in the overtime period led to the win.
The Tigers had two players in double figures in the win with Chardian Johnson leading the way with 18 points and Markail Mitchell with 11 points. Ahmad Taylor followed with six points and Austin Holmes had four. Tamerick Jenkins chipped in two points and Carlos Thomas added one point in the win.
