William Riley Smith
Flomaton
William Riley Smith, 95, of Pleasant Home Circle in Flomaton, passed away Tues., April 4, 2017, in a local hospital after a brief illness.
Visitation will be held today, Fri., April 7, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton.
Funeral services will be held Sat. April 8, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Minister Harvey Ellis officiating. Interment will follow in Catawba Springs Cemetery in Brewton, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
He was a native and life long resident of Escambia County. He attended the Brewton Kingdom Hall. He was a retired crane operator and switch engine operator from T.R. Miller Mill with 37 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Byrd Smith of Flomaton; two sons, James Smith of Brewton, and David (Leigh) Smith of Flomaton; two brothers, Jesse Smith of Bay Minette, and Edward Smith of Mobile; three sisters, Lillie Entrekin of Brewton, Edith Watson of Tennessee, and Hazel Lacosts of Century, Fla.; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by parents, B.D. and Ella Laster Smith; two sons, William Smith and Elvin Smith; and daughter-in-law, Doris J. Smith.

Matthew ‘Matt’ Mark Haugh
Brewton
Matthew “Matt” Mark Haugh, 86, of Brewton, passed away Wed., April 5, 2017, in a Pensacola, Fla., hospital after a brief illness.
Visitation will be held Sun., April 9, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. after visitation at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Kermit George officiating. Interment followed in Bradley Assembly of God Church Cemetery (Bradley Community) in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton.
He was a native and former resident of Somerville, Mass., and a long time resident of Brewton, and stayed because he loved the weather.
He was of the Catholic faith, a U.S. Air Force Veteran, a member of the American Legion, and a retired Millwright from the Container Corporation of America with more than 25 years of service and operated Matt’s Used Cars until he passed away. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and an occasional poker game.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Bill) O’Connor of Pace, Fla.; grandson, John (Candice) Williams; great grandchildren, Emily and Michael; brother-in-law, Riley (Glenda) Elliott; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by parents, Michael and Sarah Monihan Haugh; wife, Jewel Elliott Haugh; and daughter, Denise Haugh Settle.
