Witches of Brewton plan annual ride
Area residents are urged to pick up their favorite “broom” and take a flight through Brewton for the annual Witches Ride next month.
The Witches of Brewton, headed up by Meredith Buck, will be making their annual ride this year to help raise funds for Taylor Diercks.
“We pick someone in our community that has an illness that is facing some financial needs,” Buck told the Brewton City Council Monday. “This year we will be riding for Taylor who has been fighting acute myeloid leukemia since 2018. She will need to continue treatment for another two years.”
The ride will begin at 3 p.m. on Oct. 30 and will travel from T.R. Miller High School to Belleville Avenue through Brewton and will end at the mural at Market Park downtown, Buck said.
“Our ‘brooms’ will be a mixture of bicycles and golf cars,” Buck said. “We will limit the number of cars in the ride. We are hoping for a large number of riders for this year’s event.”
Witches are invited to dress in attire suitable for riding a bicycle and are advised to carefully consider the use of flowy or dangling costume pieces.
Registration for the ride will begin at 2 p.m. in the T.R. Miller High School Parking Lot. To pre-register for the event, contact Buck or visit the Witches of Brewton Facebook page for additional details and contact information.
