Knott named county assistant superintendent

W.S. Neal Elementary School Principal John Knott was named assistant superintendent for Escambia County Schools Tuesday.

Knott replaces Randall Little, who was named superintendent last spring. The system’s other assistant superintendent, Mary Bess Powell, is retiring but will not be replaced, Little said. The Escambia County School Board approved Knott’s transfer to the central office on Thursday.

Knott said he is looking forward to the new position but will miss his staff at W.S. Neal.

“At this position, the impact we have on all of our students is huge,” he said of the central office. “I’m looking forward to seeing us continue to move forward and see where we can go.”
