The W.S. Neal Blue Eagles will be looking to extend their winning streak to four straight this Friday night when they host the Clarke County Bulldogs in a Region 1 matchup.
With Saturday night's dominating 47-28 victory over Escambia County, the Blue Eagles notched their third consecutive win and improved to 3-2 on the season.
In evaluating his team's play in Saturday's game, Neal head coach Jim Fountain acknowledged the continuing good play of the Blue Eagles' defense.
Fountain said he is pleased with the recent overall execution of the team, but stressed the need for more improvement as the Blue Eagles get further into their regional schedule.
Neal, currently 2-1 against Region 1 competition, faces the first of those tests this week against a talented Clarke County squad. The Bulldogs are 1-4 overall and own a 1-2 regional record, but entered the season ranked in the Class 3A top ten and was one of the favorites to capture the Region 1 title.
Fountain said Clarke County's disappointing start to the season is less than comforting to him.
Fountain said it would be important for Neal to control the flow of the game in order to prevent the Bulldogs from having a breakout performance.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday at W.S. Neal Stadium.
