Mr. Sherman Alvah McGraw, 94, of Brewton died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002 at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native and former resident of Georgiana and had resided in Brewton for the past 81 years. He was a retired court bailiff with the Escambia County Courthouse in Brewton and was of the Pentecostal faith. He was a graduate of the J. Henry Showalter Music College and was a member of the Downing and Norris Masonic Lodge for the past 60 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Isabelle McGraw and a son, Paul L. McGraw.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 10:30 a.m. at Williams Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmie Carden officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites followed at Buffington Cemetery in Castleberry with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Shriner's Children Hospital or to a charity.
