It would be a gross understatement to say last week's 39-6 loss to the T.R. Miller Tigers was disappointing to W.S. Neal's football team. Not only did the loss bruise the the Blue Eagles hopes of knocking off their rivals, but it also knocked them out of a place in the Class 3A playoffs.
The Blue Eagles entered the season with an abundance of talented players and expectations of not only earning a playoff spot, but also advancing well into postseason play. Although still owning a 5-4 season record after the loss to Miller, Fountain said Neal has not played to its potential.
The Blue Eagles get a chance to end the season on a positive note as they host the Geneva Panthers in the season final this week.
After the disappointment last week against Miller, will the Neal players and coaches respond with the positive attitude needed to finish the season with a victory?
Fountain said the Panthers, who enter the game with a 4-5 season record, is a well-coached and physically tough team that Neal must meet head on.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday at W.S. Neal Stadium.
