Mr. James L. Blackmon Jr. of Brewton, formerly of Gaston County, N.C. died Dec. 11, 2002 at a Charlotte, N.C. hospital. He was a native of Gaston County and a self-employed home remodeler, served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, was a member of Damascus Baptist Church in Brewton. He was preceded in death by a brother, Roger "Pee Wee" Darrell Blackmon.
He is survived by his wife, Jannie Clark Blackmon; a daughter, Cory Blackmon Cole of Flomaton; his father, James Blackmon Sr. of Indiana, three brothers, Tim and Brian Payne, both of Alexis and Larry Blackmon of McKenzie, Tenn.; two sisters, Cissy Blackmon Rudd of Charlotte and Sherry Smith of Alexis; three grandchildren and his maternal step-grandmother, Ruby Payne of Alexis.
Funeral service were held Saturday, Dec. 14, at 3 p.m. at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mt. Holly, N.C. Burial followed at Mt. Holly Cemetery with Woodlawn Funeral Home directing.
