More on the Findley family
I want to continue with the Findley family by going to the family of William Andrew Findley and Sarah Elizabeth Ann Rebecca Parker.
William Andrew Findley was born 24 Aug. 1817 and died 27 Dec.1888. He served in Co. E., 15th Alabama Regiment, CSA. and is buried at Elim Cemetery. He was married to Sarah E.A.R. Parker about 1839. She was born 27 Jan. 1820 and died 7 Sept. 1910 and is buried at Elim Cemetery. They were the parents of 10 children; Robert Lumpkin Findley (abt. 1840-aft. 1860), Eliza E. Findley (3 Nov. 1841-12 Sept. 1887), Mary Jane Findley (1842-bef. 1850), John Madison Findley (1844-1927) who married Mary Adeline Margaret Manning, William Harrison Findley (1845-1917) who married Mary Ann Harper, Sarah Ann Findley (1850-1928) who married William Henry Peebles, Winnie Findley (30 July 1856-20 Jan. 1931), George Riley Findley ( 1857-1928) who married Nancy Elizabeth Hart, Martha Findley (abt 1859) and Davis McGilbra Findley (1861-1947) who married Mary Jemima Bush.
John Madison Findley ( 12 Jan. 1844-5 March 1927) served in Co. H-G, 1st Florida Regiment, CSA. He was buried at Wolfridge Cemetery in Prichard in Mobile County. He married 11 Nov. 1869 Mary Adeline Margaret Manning (18 Dec. 1849-18 Jan. 1934). She died in Shortleaf, Marengo County and was buried in Riverview Cemetery in Demopolis. They had eight children; John Franklin Findley, William Wesley Findley, Rebecca Martha Findley, James Lawrence Findley, Sarah Elizabeth Findley, Hillary Herbert Findley, Mary Della Findley and Joseph M. Findley.
William Harrison Findley (17 Dec. 1845-6 March 1917) appeared on the 1907 Confederate census. He married Mary Ann Harper (25 Oct. 1850-23 Apr. 1924) and they are both buried at Canaan Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery at Canoe. They had Will Findley and George Findley.
Sarah Ann Findley (30 Nov. 1850-29 June 1928) married William Henry Peebles (27 June 1851-2 March 1910). They are buried at Canaan Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery and they had Willie Peebles.
Winnie Findley (30 July 1856-20 Jan. 1931) is buried at Elim Cemetery.
George Riley Findley (8 Oct. 1857-12 Oct. 1928) married Nancy Elizabeth Hart (15 May 1862-10 Sept. 1940) and they had Abram Christopher Findley, Laura Josephine Findley (31 Oct. 1887-24 July 1971) and Sarah Eveline Findley.
Davis McGilbra Findley (8 Feb. 1861-11 Jan. 1947) was married 21 Sept. 1884, to Mary Jemima Bush (13 Apr. 1868-14 Apr. 1937) daughter of James Bush and Emily Hendrix. They are buried at Elim Cemetery and their children were; Walter Findley (7 Sept. 1885-30 Oct 1887), Carlie Irene Findley (1887-1981) who married Samuel Emanuel Parker, Oscar William Findley (1889) who married Estelle Murphy, Mary Marcella Findley (1891-1892), Annie Mae Findley (1893-1961) who married George Thomas, Albert Lawrence Findley (1895-1979) who married Emma Parker, Minnie Estelle Findley (1896-1977) who married Lyndal Brackin, Robert Magilbra Findley (1898-1977) who married Mary Lou Skinner, Dora Bell Findley (1900-1925) who married Stacey Barnes, Buford Hasty Findley (1903-abt. 1919), Sarah Emily Findley (1906) who married Judson Wells and Davis Aubrey Findley (1909-1962) who married Ethel Ludnam.
