Mr. John Nolon Johnson, 59, of the Appleton community, died Saturday, March 8, 2003 at a Mobile hospital after a brief illness. He was a native of Baldwin County and a life-long resident of Escambia County. He was employed with the State of Alabama Department of Corrections with 25 years of service. He was a member of the Appleton Assembly of God Church and a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his Peggy Ballard Johnson of Brewton; three daughters, Janet Andrews, Angela Sims, both of Brewton and Carrie Johnson of Auburn; three brothers, Charles Johnson of Mobile, Roland C. Johnson of Houston, Texas and Buddy Johnson of Snead, Fla.; one sister, Patricia Wilson of Brewton and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, March 11, at 11 a.m. at the Appleton First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Steve Pettis officiating. Burial followed at Ramah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Lenox, Ala. with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
